Will they grow in the GH?
« on: November 15, 2008, 21:00 »
I've cleared out my main gh, removed the old pallet floor (because it was rotting   ) and installed flagstones and raised beds in there.

I've also put bubble wrap in the gh to hopefully ward off any frost.

Because I've created these beds I wanted to get started 'cos I'm just too impatient so I've sown one with a green manure and some lettuce, radish and beetroot in the other.  The end sowing dates were all September.

My question is;  will any of them come to anything or is it really too late?

Your lettuce might and so may your green manure ( which one ? ) and the radish and possibly the beet too    whether they make it through the winter is another question. Good Luck  :)
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

Would they be ok if the GH was heated slightly to keep off the frost??

there's specific varieties for Autumn/Winter sowing these would do better than just a normal spring/summer variety, but going back to your question, I imagine they would survive in a frost free greenhouse but not sure what kind of crop you'll get low temps and low light levels, short days etc
