Rhubarb based insecticide?
« on: January 05, 2011, 20:01 »
The active is oxalic and is water soluble so washing the veg sprayed 'should' be enough to remove it (can anyone verify this)

as with any infestation it takes time for beneficial insects to find the pests in order to start to control it, my thinking is, as soon i see pests i spray them killing most of them allowing the beneficial insects to clean up the remaining bugs (i know i may be killing 'some' beneficial insects as well but if i see a significant number taking care of the problem i wont spray)

Just wanted to ask does Rhubarb spray have a place as an insecticide in a garden?

I've always enjoyed poking sticks into hornets' nests and waiting for the results but I'll resist the temptation to get on my soap box.

I'm not having a go but I am curious as to what you could legally use rhubarb leaf tea for without the wrath of the EU descending from on high. Aftershave perhaps?

We burn soap boxes here me dear.

Send John a PM if you have a question about what's on his blog. :)

I hope the temperature is high enough because if not then the EU guidlines warn of  high airborne particulate levels for burning wood and packaging. :)
