Sweetcorn Sideshoots
« on: June 28, 2010, 20:47 »
I notice there are one or two sideshoots growing from the base of my sweetcorn plants. Is it best to leave the side shoots on in the hope of getting more cobs or are they better removed to focus all the energy to the main stem cob? Never grown sweetcorn before but it appears to be thriving in this warm weather.

They're called "tillers".

Previous post about them here, (short & sweet!):

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
