This is prob one for DD
my section for peas/beans is 35ft x 12ft, I am growing 9 diffrent varieties dwarf through to climbers.
Am I better off
A) sowing in 1 long double row with sizes ranging small to large or
B)Plant in blocks

The long row would run North/South, the blocks East/West if that makes any difference

First quick thoughts. How about something like:



The numbers are spacings in feet.

The vertical lines are one row of one variety of 25ft each.

The horizontal lines are two rows each of the remaining 2 varieties, the wider spaced bottom rows being your climbers.

This gives you almost equal row lengths overall for each variety.

do beans and peas do better planted to a certain orientation? so they face south say?

I don't think they give two hoots!

I orientate mine so I get 32' rows, not 100!
