HI

Just found this site and am after some  advice.
I am a pure novice -have two chickens and a bantam cockerel who are such characters.

ginger betty is a very large ginger chicken who has just started laying ,trouble is her feathers are becoming matted with faeces and we have to wash her and cut them off ??? is there an easier way or way to avoid this?

i have purchased an incubator and am trying to hatch some eggs ? what do they eat when first hatched??? told you i hadnt a clue :roll:

any advice will be greatly appreciated   thankyou  judith :D

Hi now how your feeling we've got a 1 of our chickens babbs doing the same think she's due to lay vv.soon. We've been bathing her but again would like any help!!

If she is getting dirty because she had diarrhea the that needs to be sorted out.  Are the other chickens fine ?

What are her faeces like ?

hi thanks for that no she hasnt diarrhoea and others are fine and clean,its only happened since she started laying.
she is losing some feathers at the rear end,think its these getting in the way!!! :roll:

hi well ginger only started laying recently and was clean until then!! i have trimmed her feathers in the nether regions and its not too bad this week which is great as she does not like her bum washing :cry:
