As you may remember, little Martha is sitting on 5 duck eggies. Unfortunately 1 got broke a week or so ago, it was fertile but only a little blooming blob. Anyway, I think :?: that 2 of them are smelly, I did extract the broken eggie straight away and give her fresh straw but I didn't clean the eggies.
What should I do :? I dont know how you can check duck eggies, I hate the idea of killing growing embryos but on the other hand I DON'T  want them to blow :oops: What should I do for the best?

Have you tried candling one to see whats going on?

I didnt think you could candle duck eggs cos the shell is so thick :?:

I candle mine but they are only call ducks so might be thinner shells???
Can't hurt to have a go though, I would

Body temperature water. Float the eggs in the water. The bad ones will sink to the bottom, the good ones will bob at the the top. If you look closely you may see the eggs bobbing under their own steam.

We think we might be having some Sulkies (sultan mom, Silkie dad) The silkie cockerel has two wives - a silkie and a sultan but we can't tell their eggs apart!! Will find out if we hatch some odd looking hairdo's
