I guess they call this harvest time, even though it feels like we've been harvesting since may and there's still veg in the ground to eat.  So is there an official harvest festival date? One wonders.  I always remember harvest festival as a child, taking a tin of lunchen meat to Sunday school and praising God for all the hard work, fond memories, but I have equally fond memories of the hard work we did this year.  Taking on a piece of scub land and cultivating it! I can't believe I gone from complete novice to slightly green fingered chap.
Here's some of our booty.

Roll on next year.

I was wondering that!  Thought it was Tuna at first!!

What an amazing harvest by the way, would be very proud if I can produce anything like that next year.

Well spotted, it's tuna   I'll be laughin all week about that one.

It's sand! I clamped the carrots, but it was too wet and they kept growing.

I just planted the fennel send and left the rest to nature, honest.  I'm not a massive fan.  Can't ever seem to cook it right. It's always tough.

I cook it in a foil bag with a little wine for about 30 mins. Would advise cooking it any other way? I'll definitely keep growing as it's also nice with fish and quite pretty.

The onions, well I have have to say I'm dead chuffed.  They Stutgarta's from Wilko's    99p jobby. They beautiful to, really strong good cookers.

Cheers for all the feedback guys, keep growin yourselves.

i slice fennel and just put it in the steamer as a side veg, until soft and tender, texture a bit like courgette when well cooked.
