I had a rescue dog too but not chooks.  Got them from a local supplier and they're brown hybrids but they're all different shades of brown so I can tell them apart. They're good layers apparently as I need the fresh eggs to use at my B & B  :D

Yep that's an Eglu. This one is new but Omlet does second hand ones I understand as does Ebay.  I put it up singlehandedly but it did take me about 2 hours, not the 45 minutes they suggested. Well it seemed like two hours  :D

It's recommended to have 3 full sized birds or 5 bantams so I followed their advice

We bought a rabbit hutch and run for our 3 chickens - £20 out of the paper and it's perfect.

As for the chickens, we Googled 'poultry farm' plus the name of our town and found a farm a couple of miles away who sold us birds at £5 a go.

I have a friend who makes beautiful hen houses and gorgeous quality he charges £135 for his and 6 good sized hens will  easily fit into them - I am very fussy about housing but cant fault his. He is based in Gloucester.

Yeah, I said that as well ... on day one we ended up with four, three weeks later we've lost one and gained two, at this rate we'll have a garden full by Christmas

Don't forget to post the pics when you've got your girls (it's the law round here, I think - you won't get any peace until you do   )
Nobody said this was going to be easy ... but some days are better than others!
