I use a really good tool which is virtually free -- pencil and paper

I have a four year rotation for three sets of four beds and a five year rotation for another set - this gets in squashes and sweetcorn then too.

I keep a diary of how well different veg and varieties have done, consider what to eat next year (and what not to eat if we didn't find struggling to enjoy anything, or with a glut we could not even give away), search through the seed packets and develop a sowing plan from there

Then I have to fit in unexpected gifts from friends  ;)

Seems to werk fer me and we eat well all year round, not just in some seasons

I use Excel, one of my friends uses pen and paper and another uses a growveg planner...And none of us have figured out succession planning yet! (though my excuse is it's my first year!)

I'd say use whichever you think you'd be more comfortable with - whether that's lists, spreadsheets, diagrams or gizmos - I don't think that there's anything wrong with using tools that can help you increase what you know.
