Back in March I scattered a packet of a wildflower seeds in the garden.

The 'meadow' is now almost a foot tall, but slap bang in the middle of it towers a gigantic 3ft-tall mystery plant.

The plant has a robust, prickly stem, with broad, rough, heart-shaped leaves. Several clusters of tiny yellow flowers are just beginning to bloom. Given enough water, the plant grows at a staggering pace. After a day-long downpour on Sunday, I woke up on Monday morning to find it had grown by approximately 5 inches overnight.

It was obviously a rogue seed that made its way into the packet by mistake, because it doesn't look like any of the plants in the photo. Does anyone know what plant it could be?

I shall be interested in the photo too -- just need a little bit more info... sounding like angelica so far perhaps

I am guessing here -- some kind of stray farmers crop such as Oil Seed Rape or a kale or wild/cross pollinated brassica.
Another odd idea -- mustard.

Don't think its rape, leaves too big. And the angelica I grew in Kent had white flowers.  Does look a bit like mustard, but again from what I remember, the leaves are a bit big?

Glad the photo helped the ID of charlock --- and yes, angelica has creamy flowers in an umbel

I remembered why it was so familiar to me. There's one up at the top of the driveway near the gate.  Must spray the drive if the rain stops for long enough......
