Pear Tree?
« on: May 15, 2011, 15:49 »
Hi everyone
I am new to this forum so I'm not sure if my question will be appropriate.

My mom has a pear tree in her garden which grows abundantly, however they get to approximately 3" round and they stop growing then drop off.

We are wondering if anyone might know how we can encourage them to grow to their fullest so she can use them.

Thanks

Debs

There is a phenomenon called 'The June drop'  where fruit trees drop small fruits due to them having too many on their branches.

3" round, is that circumference or radius?  If it's the latter, that isn't too bad for some varieties.   Cheers,   Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Welcome to the site Debs and there's no problem at all with your question  :D

I don't know the answer to it  :D , but wondered whether there was a watering problem, or whether there were signs of pests or diseases either on leaves or on the trunk / branches?

Edit: Just seen Tony's reply - is all the fruit dropping, or just some?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
