HELP please urgent

Please can anyone help.

One of my chicks is not right, it is sort of extending and stretching its neck and gasping like it can't breathe properly and its not cheeping. Mum is ignoring it too. Its very placid and not tying to get away or calling when I pick it up and mum is not bothered either which is not like her as she is very protective.

Any ideas what is wrong and what I can do PLEASE

The little chap just passed away, don't understand he was thriving and growing well. Thats life I guess, but so sad.

so sorry slowef; sometimes it seems it's just meant to be; Mum obviously knew it wasn't right and that's why she ignored it, they know more than we do; chin up

So sorry your little chick died slowef :cry:

The symptoms you describe sound like gape worm to me but I'm not sure if a little chick would have picked it up yet. Has Mum been wormed recently. You would need to use flubenvet as the other methods (herbal etc.) only have any (an limited) effect on gut parasites. Gape worm is in the trachea.

Aunt I don't know about worming I only got the mum and babies 2 weeks ago so I have no history for her.

How do you worm a chicken please, do you put this stuff in their water and where can you get it.

I read somewhere about a Grapefruit suppliment you need to give chickens, whats that for please

Grapefruit supplement (citracidal) is supposed to kill all sorts of gut things, but not gape worm :!:
