Would you eat beans soaked in paraffin?  :tongue2:

Neither will mice or birds.  ;)

Above my raised beds down the bottom of the garden I have Pigeons nesting (along with numerous sparrows and other song birds) I manage to keep them away from my veg by criss crossing the bed with Repeller Ribbon;
Like this;

It not only reflects light like a CD but also makes a fluttering sound as it is blown by the breeze.
I wrap it around a bamboo cane and staple it in place, with a bit of string top and bottom so that it doesn't move up and down.

Works for me.

Debris netting will also keep cabbage whites off brassicas though & can be used year after year.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

A lot of the old gardening books advocate the use of paraffin to repel allsorts - one I read suggested soaking string in paraffin and tying it directly above the drill where carrots were sown to repel carrot fly :lol:  I'm laughing but I guess it worked for some :)

That's an interesting notion - the smell might confusal the carrot fly.  :unsure:
