I have a couple of hundred 3" and 3.5" plastic pots, use them year-after-year for anything that needs potting-on (Melons, Toms, Cues, Peppers), or doesn't mind some disturbance when being planted out (such as Beetroot, Beans, Lettuce, Celery).

I use paper pots for things that do mind - Parsnips, Sweet corn, and/or where I want a tall narrow pot Sweet Peas. I've got about 80 Parsnips and 100 Sweet Peas in paper pots, and will probably grow about 100 sweet corn in them too - that's enough paper-pot-making for me for one season!

i do it like richie, it's quick and easy and i did a little test with ones a single thickness and others a double thickness of newspaper and they both survived for weeks with damp compost in and occasional watering.

that's how i'll be sowing my sweetcorn this year.

You have been a busy girl making all those pots, or have you got a small army to assist you?
