I have a bed for brassicas but they are all still tiddly plants at this stage.

Is it ok to plant salad type things and radishes inbetween? Anything else I could grow there too?

They will grow pretty rapidly Sheena.  Radish will be fine.  You might want to try broad beans which will get above the cabbages.

But remember ... anything you plant will make weeding a pain.  Might be better to keep the hoe going?

Ahhh, point taken re the weeding.

Where do you grow your salad type stuff then? in a bed on it's own or in amongst other plants?

Mostly in a bed of their own but sometimes between things, e.g. I grow a lot of chives and am growing endive in between.  The chives get cut maybe 3 times per season & the endive fills the gaps nicely.  Looks nice too.

Sow some lettuce seed now to plant out after the early tatties come out.

Lolla rossa even looks nice in the flower beds.

i put some turnips between the brussel sprouts, and i had some brussels left over so i put them in the runner bean row to see what would happen.
