The pots I had in mind would be about  18 inches in diameter and 18 deep??

That would be fine - 1 per pot, but they will prefer the ground if you have space.

Cavili is the other one I'm growing, that doesn't need pollination 

Yup. T&M had them packaged with the Parthenon. Disappointed in the Parthenon though, I just wanted some ordinary green courgettes (after last year's lack of crop due to the weather). The Cavilli seems to be a very odd colour which I'm not sure I will find appetising.. if i get a crop off it.
