Aphids on fruit trees
« on: June 15, 2013, 20:10 »

Our fruit trees are getting covered in aphids!  :(

Not sure what to do..

Should I either try and wash them off with a blast of a hose, or use a pesticide?

Help....

I'de go for the hose first then a squirter (those that live under the sink) filled with a soapy solution.
 for those stubborn beggers.
Cheers,   Tony.

I had them all over the leaves of my blackcurrant so I pulled out the curled leaves and blasted them off with the jet hole on my gun hose. Worked a treat. Might have to do it again later on but def reduced.

We are still battling these on ours, soapy water works but the very curled leaves are not as easy. Thought aout pruning the ends that are fruitless and burning its that bad, trouble is we cant reach the tops of the trees

Our fruit trees and bushes are only waist high, we just planted them last year.

We haven't got a trigger sprayer to hand, but have a pump pressure sprayer.

Will that work the same with a soapy solution in it?
