Anyone know what my hedge is?
« on: December 30, 2012, 11:14 »
Sorry, I can't post a photo at the moment.  It's a very common evergreen hedge with very dark green leaves which are about 5mm.  They grow straight up and down the stem, all facing the same direction and are paired, not staggered.

Please throw some names at me so I can look them up.  It's definately not privet and doesn't look like box, but cold be a form of it.

I need to know whether I can use the shreddings as a mulch.

The leaves are arranged and look very like a cotoneaster but this one has no berries and is six feet tall.  Very close though, it probably is.

Thank you.  It is indeed lonicera nitida, a box leaf, shrubby honeysuckle.  Kudos to mum and a very well done for trying to everyone else.

Now to shred the bu**er and use it as a mulch now I know it's ok to do so. 8)

It's a good plant and you can trim it quite hard. It's easy to lick into shape with a hedge trimmer  :)

I'm afraid it's in the way of the six foot fence that is going up between me and "Onslow" >:(, my next door neighbour and the dog that likes to bite me. >:(
