Hi all I will be away for all of July my 1st earlies will be out before I go but not my 2nd earlies what should I do to try to protect against blight if it strikes . some say spray some cut the tops off before I go some say cover them with earth . or should I take a chance we don't get it until august. any help would be appreciated thanks Ian

last year I noticed blight just starting to catch a couple of my plant so I cut them all off at ground level.i didn't cover them just left them in the soil.i was still picking them a month later with no effect to them.im sure one of the more experienced guys/gals will be along to give you a final answer  ;)

Do you have an allotment neighbour who would do a quick decapitation on them if your site has a problem ?
