Hi,

My broody got off her nest earlier and the eggs werent warm, but werent cold either  ...How long can they be off the nest for?? I have another broody they could go under, but as she had left the nest before I got home from work I dont know how long she was off them for.

Did she go back on them or has she abandoned them? could be she was just getting some food and water when you saw her? chickens usually sense when eggs are not developing and will leave them, how many eggs does she have and are you sure they were fertile?

Thanks themagicaltoad1, she had 9 eggs, she's still broody, so we put her back on them and we've candled them, 8 out of 9 were fertile and the chicks were still moving inside
