Pallet shed?
« on: February 06, 2013, 08:49 »
Morning all

Just wondering if there is anyone out there who have pushed the use of pallets and created themselves a shed/building out of them

Have been doing a bit of research on them already and what Ive seen on tinterweb already, I can get my hands on plenty of pallets, Im quite handy with a hammer and Ive been coming up with some plans and how to go about it etc, what materials to use for roof, structure support, waterproofing etc and was wondering if anyone was or had created something similar and had any pics?

Already got hard standing to put it on, so its just a case of getting the materials together and cracking on I suppose.  The idea is its going to work out cheaper than buying a shed (certainly for the size I want) and I can plan it all around my needs

Just Make a rough plan on what you want and be prepared to be adaptable It will to some extent depend on what sort of timber you can get I found a cold chisel the best to cut thro the nails to take the pallets apart  you may be able to get some used windows off freecycle and I used a double skin on the outside to get it more waterproof as the planks are not  a uniform wide You can also try a salvage yard for used timber but cross check with the diy chains . good luck

This is a workshop we built when we were in Scotland. We were lucky enough to get really big pallets (12 x 8 ). Got some more pics somewhere if you would like me to look.

I'm really sorry but I been through all of my old pics and cannot find anything else concerning this. All I can say is that all of the timber and pallets came from skips....and that includes all the nails.....the builders would throw half used nail strips away. The only thing we bought was the felt for the roof.
If you have any technical questions give me a pm and I'll get Muntjac to answer them for you. :)
