Pepper with leaf curl
« on: July 10, 2011, 09:25 »
My red pepper plants are about 2 foot high and I have noticed that the top leaves seem to be curling and pitted and have not grown as large as the ones beneath.
I have never had this before.
Any ideas?  :(
I'm not young enough to know everything!

If you run your fingers over the leaves you may find some small aphids, thats what happened to mine.

I have lots of that this year, and no aphids at the moment. I wonder if it's the intermittent cold weather that it's damaging them (they're outdoors). They seem healthy otherwise (if not particularly big), and have plenty of flowers, so I'm not worried. Yet.

Yes, mine have been curling and have had aphids in the greenhouse. Run fingers over them to kill them.

No aphids in sight.
Not a lot of flowers either.  Despite this, they still look fairly healthy.
Mine are outside too, so it could be weather related.

Growing peppers outside there is brave. It will be the cold nights, hopefully.

Not that much crop to hope for, either.

I've done it for several years.
I do only get about 4 peppers per plant - but hey! I've grown them myself!!

I usually keep three to four plants in the greenhouse and then put all the others, I go mad with seeds, into the lotty, picked them by the carrier bag last year but this year I am only expecting 1/2 of last years unless it warms up very quickley
