My hens, silkies a welsummer and a dorking have not layed since early summer. I am completely miffed. They did have a horrendous moult, that went on for a bit, but nothing since. I have checked them all and can see no signs of illness or anything else. Eggs are not the main reason we have, just love having them around. Any advice anyone ?.

At this time of the year you will probably have to wait until early spring now. There are not enough daylight hours to encourage most chooks to lay

Ok. Do you think the molt was what put off egg production for the rest of the time ? . I know they are not prolific layers.

I would have thought so.  Just make sure you give them layers pellets and not too many treats and they will be laying again before you know it providing they are not old girls now.

It is hard for a hen to replace her feathers and lay an egg - too much for the system. You don't say how old they are this may have a bearing
