HI all put ina mini pear tree last winter October 2008. Last year it grew well with alot of leaves but no fruit, any ideas

Did it flower? has it got a pollen partner?

Anyway, pears are slow to come into bearing.

The tree can either put on more root system or put out fruit, it can't do both at the same time. Without roots first, the fruiting will suffer. So be patient. Perhaps with a dwarf you might get fruit this coming year, it not, most likely the following.

dont remember it flowering to be honest it got a loft of leaves. It was Conference variety

If it is conference, it will still need a pollination buddy.  (they crop a lot better if they are cross pollinated)  If it is on an allotment, chances are there are others nearby anyway. 

Do you know how old the tree was when you bought it?  If it became pot-bound, then it would take a year for it to spread it's roots, then another to build up the energy to fruit.  As it was only planted October 2008, it has only had one full season to establish itself.

Give it a good mulching to retain moisture around the roots and feed it around April time.  It is quite important to keep the area below the tree clear of weeds too.
