cost of a plot?
« on: February 18, 2007, 21:24 »
Hi All,

I was wondering what it would cost to rent a plot? I'm sure it all depends on size / location / facilities / local council, etc etc.

I dont want to seem nosey, but how much do folks pay for their site, and what size is it.

I would be very interested in any replies particularly from Notts.

I've recently picked one up in Bulwell and pay 10p per sq yard (6p for land and 4p for water).

My 1st rent payment is due in march and will be £56 for the year

Hi Mysteryjimbo - that seems very reasonable - I'm also located in Bulwell - are there any vacant plots near you?

My plot is 576 sq yards.  So quite large.

Loads, on Bradford street allotment associations site.  About 3 of similar size to mine on the same "avenue".

I can provide you Reg's number if you want.

Yes please! - that would be great - have they been empty long?

Your plot is quite large - are there any smaller allotments?

Our subs are just being increased and will now cost £7.50
we have about 26 allotments but only 2 water troughs, they are
pretty big allotments.

plot is in suffolk - have to pay £15.00 deposit which we get back when we give the plot up - or so they say!

We have 2 plots which equate to 20 rods (but don't ask me what a rod is 'cos I have no idea!) the agreement we have just received for them says £16.00 for the year - which would be £8.00 for a plot - there is a water tub on site but that is all.

In Eye so norfolk/suffolk border really but the map says we are in suffolk - though only just for those who live further down the A140!

This topic has been covered before :

My allotment plot costs £102.10 pa - this is for 350 Square Metres the cheapest on the 96 site is £51.70 for 0 - 100 Square Metres. I live in South Tyneside. (North East of England) I am trying not going to think about this any more - the council are greedy swines. Think of all the seeds/compost/pots/canes/beer I could buy with hundred notes!!!
