Yep - slugs & snails.  I've managed to lose my all melon, aubergine & cucumber seedlings in the greenhouse    and I'm more cross with myself than anything else for not getting in there with the pellets soon enough  >:(
Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success.
Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.

Not sure if this will help you Riala and paintedlady, but could you use a copper strip across the door of the greenhouse and round the SFG? As the slugs and snails don’t cross them, then wouldn’t this save you the regular slug pellet hassle? I wouldn’t suggest this in large spaces because of cost, but if you are both protecting small areas it may be worth a thought.

(You would have to be sure they don’t have an alternative route and that you have not fenced them IN first!)

Eggshells, sand/ grit and coffee grinds could be another way to fence them out and reduce the damage if you haven’t already tried.

I have 2 greenhouses, a 4 tiered mini greenhouse and 4 cold frames, not to mention multiple spaces dotted around the patio getting plants up to the planting out stage ready for the plots - too many & too little time for individual attention so I normally rely on slug pellets in appropriate places.  As I said, I'm more angry with myself for taking the chance, especially as this is/was the first time I'd grown aubergines and melons so I was getting really excited about it when they started to appear ... and then, they were gone  :(

Hope we have a good downpour as this usually kills a lot of them!!
But seriously they only usually go for cabbage family things including rocket. I've never had them on lettuce or pumpkin, so maybe it is small slugs or small snails which were a problem for me last year :(

Basic table salt either sprinkled or diluted and sprayed will also keep the slugs away, as they "melt" when they come into contact with it, so stay away

I have ordered some copper tape/foil from good old eBay, but I have a question regarding the slug 'n' snail pellets that I just covered my SFG with.... stupidly without reading the label.

Will it affect my food?

No it won't, though I'd rinse the plants before eating them just in case some dust settled.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I put a few cauli plant in cold frame to harden off, and the slugs have had ago at a couple of them, so put a small yogurt pot half buried in the ground full of beer, seems to have worked, just emptied the pot today and lots of dead slugs. Still they should have died happy
