When/how/if to move asparagus

Before I got my allotment last year I planted some asparagus in big tubs at home. It did well and I left the spears alone. I know asparagus hates to be moved but I'd really like it at the lottie now. Any advice?

What are your tubs made of? Would it be possible to take it all up to the lottie, dig a hole, cut the bottom off the pot and bung it in pot & all?
