Hi,

I'm into "weather", been that way since I was little. Over the years, I've built up a collection of resources and links. Some of these would be useful to folks growing stuff, as they concentrate on things like ground frost, sunshine and rainfall in particular. Some of them give very detailed information. Most of them require a grasp of at least some of the science behind meteorology.

Would anyone here appreciate this kind of information? I can appreciate meteorology isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I thought maybe growers would have a keener interest, and maybe want more detailed information, than the general public. What do you think?

Yes, please. I find it hopeless to get reliable weather forecasts.  8)

I'd also say ''yes'' though the forecasts on Irish tv are alot more detailed than alot of the ones on UK tv (the forecasters are meterologists rather than just 'pretty faces')

Peter always gets amazed when they start talking about isobars and the like

I find our local TV weather forcasts remarkably accurate.

How could you give a "detailed" forcast for all individual areas of the country Mushroom ?

I usually listen to the weather on Radio 4's Farming Today at 6.55 on Monday mornings. It's very reliable. My second choice is the met office website.

So much to do, but so little time.

I use the Met Office website and go to our local weather. Much more accurate than the BBC, even though they must get their gen from the Met Office.

For rainfall forecasts, I trust my Oregon Scientific weather station more than the BBC web forecast.

OK, good, so people are interested. There is some stuff I think it would be polite to ask permission to use beforehand, but I foresee no problems. I'll post some example output later, and well see where we go from there.

I seem to have missed above response, but:

BBC web forecast seems to get worse & worse but a small, relatively inexpensive bit of kit seems to beat their (rain) forecast every time.

Except when you drive 150 miles to somewhere with a different barometric pressure and completely confuse it!
