Monty's limping.
« on: August 17, 2008, 16:55 »
For the last couple of days, my boy has had a limp. Ive inspected his leg but can see nothing wrong, and think he has just jarred it. Trouble is he is such a heavy bird, when he jumps down from the nesting boxes, the ground moves!

How will I know if he is in a lot of pain. He isnt showing any adverse signs, but I dont want him to suffer. How long should I give him before I take him to the vets?

If you can find no signs of injury to joints or bones then I'd give him quite a while to recover.  It may take a couple of weeks.  Keep a good eye on him though for any problem like bumble-foot.

And what's he doing in nesting boxes - can't a girl have any privacy

Maybe some Metacam from your vet might help if he doesn't get any better.
