Members will be aware that this summer I've hatched some pure Marans and some Light Sussex. From all the eggs sat, I've managed four Maran pullets and eight Light Sussex.
On my trip to Devon, I purchased a 50 metre roll of electric poultry fencing. Today, I set it up and this evening after dark, I've put the chickens in the shed and tomorow morning I'll let them out into their new run.
They maybe a week or two away from laying, but I feel quite embarressed at being so excited at looking forward to that very first egg. :-)  Its given out rain for tomorrow but I'll try and get some snaps of the girls coming out into their new run. Soppy isn't it ?

Its Monday morning now.

" Its green out here isn't it ?

Most of the flock out on the forage.

Wow chicken and my type of heaven.  If I chop the missus up into little bits and hide her under the patio my be i would be able to get lots and lots of chucks.  She will only let me have eight.  :(

mmmm probably wont be allowed to keep my chuck in jail.  Dont want them to be jail birds.  Oh well have to sneak them home by stealth and put off chopping the missus up. How am i going to explain the appearance of a 8* 6 ft shed.  Some how I don't think she will believe it is an alien space ship from the planet poultry which has landed and it is the start of an invasion force.  (this would mean i could get more sheds). Will a gold fish bowl stay on a chickens head? If so for how long.

Bodger

Why did you purchase the fencing when you were on your hols - some kind of bargain I don't know about?

I don't know about a bargain but it cost me around £70.00 . When I checked with my local fairly large farmers merchant group, they wanted £92. 00 plus vat. So yes it was a bargain but I didn't realise how much of a one at the time. :D
