weld mesh question
« on: October 04, 2010, 19:15 »
I'm on ebay mooching around and I've found weld mesh, 1" x 1" x 60" aviary/hutch fencing 30m, £47.95 plus £14.95 p&p.

Is this a good price? :)

Have you tried Hills of Devon?  They were excellent when I bought mine from them.  They do a 48"high 30m roll which is £44 which includes free delivery.  Their web site is:  http://www.hillsofdevon.co.uk/aviary-mesh.html  Hope that helps.

I bought mine from hills, however they also have an ebay shop which I came across and their products are more expensive  ???
Stick to their online shop.

Can't remember price for comparison.  But agree Hills was the best value when I was looking.  I got mine from there.  Brilliant service too, very fast delivery.

Can't remember the 'gauge', but checked my invoice and wire diameter was 1.0 mm.  I think that was the minimum I was told to prevent fox chewing through.

Mesh size I got was 1" x 1/2".  Need to be sure that chooks can not stick their heads through, or could get bitten off.  Roll width was 48" and was reasonably OK to handle.

Make sure you've got thick gloves, and when cutting it, roll it out on the lawn or patio, and stand on the rolled out bit, or it will spring back and take your eyes out.  It's lethal.
