Potatoes
« on: August 22, 2019, 10:05 »
Good morning all,

Harvested my potatoes last night following the advice of a plot neighbour. I was only at the plot for a short time and didnt have time to leave the potatoes out to develop skins. A few of these have gone to out family and will get used tonight but how long will they last like this?

Thanks

Good morning ches, leaving them out in the air for a couple of hours will certainly increase their 'shelf life' Stick them out on a lawn or other ground to dry should do the trick.

Cheers,  Tony.

They'll keep in the fridge for a couple of weeks, or even in the dark and cool.

I'm lucky enough not to live too far from Wadsworths brewery in Devizes and oak chips and sawdust from the cooper have to be the best medium for storing veg'.

Cheers,  Tony.

depends on what type of potatoes. I bought a 25kg sack from the farmer and keep them in hessian sack, fridge and part boiled and froze a load for the dog. These are 1st earlies and are storing very well.
