injured hen

my hen was injured by the roosters spur.  our vet doesn't treat chickens. what can i put on the wound and do any of you use chicken saddles on your hens?   i am from now on.  i don't want any more injured hens.  thanks for any info.

ok take her out of the pen and  see how bad the wound is if it is a puncture  paint it with iodine and keep an eye on it  a flap ,you can stitch it up if neccasary they chicken doesnt feel it honest then paint with iodine , put her in a pen so she can be seen by the others  take the cockerel in ur hands with the head and wings tucked under your arm  now holding its legs / leg out.( some cockerals only have 1 spur) take a  pair of pruning shears and take the tips off the spur one at a time  take them back about 1/2 inch from the leg .. done it now put some iodine on the wounds .then go round and check your hens and do the same if needed
