Can sympathise - ours was completely over-run when we took it on Feb 2008.  Our approach was to dig where we could so we could plant that year, and then gradually do the rest.  2 years later and you wouldn't recognise it!  Gets easier to dig each year, and this year we have a shed built from old pallets, a timber greenhouse, and the plot fully dug (and half planted!) - hard work, but the sense of achievement is immense.  Stick with it and you'll get there :)

Ammonium sulphamate was banned several years ago as a herbicide.

It is illegal to use it (or for you to buy it or be sold it) and we cannot condone criminal activity on this forum.

Any replies to that question will be deleted and the thread locked.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Excellent

You are doing a fab job on that plot, persevering like that - keep it up with glyphosate or something else legal!

The only organic weedkiller is a fork  :(

Actually, not quite true - covering up is of some use but takes time

Hi Mike, i have just got 1/8th acre plot over at Teesville, it looks very similar to the state yours is in, i've got nettles at chest hight at the moment (although i've just gave them a spray of the nasty stuff), 2 huge ex chicken coops to bring down, then to try and rotavate it all, i think the hardest part of it all was getting the allotment in the first place!, i've got so many ideas for next year, i think i'm just going to clear a small part, then firefight the rest, good luck with yours m8
