It may only be asthetic . I went to the garage tonight and choose one of this years crop. It was a red onion possibly (red baron) Autumn planted set. Started to peel off the dry outer red skin. Then I noticed the whole onion was white. No inner red bits. Still tasted nice though. Any tips for variety's that are red for next year.

it was probably a japanese red sun if planted last year. Red on the outside but white inside.
Red baron would have been either planted as sets or sown as seed this year.

Red Baron are a spring planted Set. I grow them every year & get great results.
I always get Heat Treated sets & this is key because by getting HT then they don't run to seed.( However one did last year but that was only one out of 100)
As guide I always order mine in September from T&M and get free delivery the following April.

I grew Electric once and they were only red round the outside. Such a disappointment!  So I now grow Marshalls Fen Red.
