How i hate them    The little b*******  seem to have take up residence in my chicken run protected by an electric fence. They are throwing up molehills all over the place with occasional sorties into the lawn   and the raised beds and vegetable patch   . I have tried different types of traps but only ever caught one
Anyone else have problems with them and anyone know any remedies for getting rid of them. You'd think they would at least have the decency to electrocute themselves.
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

We have a serious mole problem here, at present if they get to the surface they get stuck as it is so frozen they struggle to get down again and nextdoors cat has caught a couple.

I've failed to get rid of them so have tried to think of the molehills as a resource rather than a problem. I shovel them up and use the soil for seed beds. Can't shovel at present, molehills also frozen.

They are not easy to catch.  We have some on our allotment site.  We use this type of trap.

We find the run using a thin metal rod to probe near the mole hill and dig down into the run to set the trap.

You must wear rubber golves while doing it as they have a very good sense of smell and will go the other way if the smell your scent.

When the trap is in place cover it with some turf leaving the handles poking out of the ground and cover it all with a bucket to keep all the light out.

Years ago I had a problem with moles coming into the allotment and digging up the beds etc , I used diluted jeys fluid poured from a watering can around the perimiter of the allotment and this stopped the moles.

that is the trap i had my success with, but recently no joy at all. Was aware of the smell thing, but thought my rubber gloves stank so much i tried just washing my hands in soil.

blooming things are living amongst my carrots

like the idea of drowning them in neat jeyes fluid. Don't suppose the hens would like it too much - probably make the eggs taste

There's a couple of old fashioned ones this end of town, there's Bennetts in Evington village or Bouldin's on Green Lane Road,  pound to a penny they'd have them.  :)

might just take you up on that if i can't find anywhere close by - thanks.

Evington is not really my neck of the woods, Richy, but i'll have a bit of an ask about locally.
