Those plug inserts for seed trays are the bees knees - it make sit easier to sow thinly and transplanting is simple.

Couldn’t agree more but, to be honest, I feel a bit of a cheat as my "plug insert trays" came free having bought some geranium plug plants on special offer a few years back!  ;)

I keep re-using them for beetroot as it's so easy and convenient.  :)

I thought you couldn't transplant beetroot?  Interesting - thanks for that.

I think I might have been told that too.... difference here is there's little if any root disturbance as they have only just begun to grow.  ;)

Hoiking them up out of the ground and replanting is a different matter... not likely to work.

i grow most of my seed in modules as plugs bench grown  and it makes setting far more easier  for me i also buy in several trays of flower plugs that are more cost effective to buy

like impatiens [bizzy Lizzie] begonia fuchsia and geranium never had any problems both buying in and razing my own vegetable from seed i purpose my propagator does help things along  :)

Avoid anything with a tap root like parsnip or carrot.

Most other plants would be OK, but for things with deep roots (e.g. beans, sweetcorn) I'd recommend you use paper pots - they are deeper so better for the roots, you don't need to pot the seedling on before planting out, and the paper will biodegrade after planting out.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I grow 1000s of seeds in plug form that way I can keep what I want then give away what I don’t want and you can also start earlier in the year if you have a heated greenhouse than you can outside or an unheated greenhouse.
