Chain link fencing
« on: March 07, 2012, 19:39 »
Will Chain link be ok for around my coop, its strong and smallish holes and seems to stop most things. We have dug out a trench that we are going to sink heavy gauge weld mesh into on a dog leg 18 inch deep.
Thanks
Kris

Tony
I was thinking about running chicken wire around it also to stop smaller things like rats too.

When I was researching someone told me foxes could run up chain link fences!  Watching foxes climb on youtube they can get up high if they can run, jump and grip.  A strong wire with longish vertical rectangles would be hard for fox paws to grip or have the fence lean outwards at the top perhaps.

have the fence lean outwards at the top perhaps.

The above is the best idea, I think. It can be done by adding to the top of the fence and only needs to be a couple of wires standing out at 45 degrees. :)

Like this idea Nerdle. Will look at adding something like this to the coop. Sassy i have wire knocking around the plot so good call.

Is chain link fox proof? Or chicken wire?
