by putting them in the heated propagator. I have told him this is Bad, but he refuses to believe me saying "heat is good"

Please tell me I am right and he is wrong.

You're right - he's wrong!

He's asking for them to rot. Peas are an outdoor crop & do not require this amount of heat. I would not go a step up from a cold frame!

How many are in there my I ask, you need a lot for a half decent crop.

Having said that they'll probably germinate, but then you got the additional problem of hardening them off.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Don't haggle with him, just sow a few hundred seeds in situ, he can watch the propagator in the mean time.

I put early peas (hurst greenshaft) in a very hot coldframe next to my house in full sun, they failed to appear and after looking under the soil I found a rotten mass.

I had the best result with 40 other seeds, soaked them for a day until they started to sprout and then planted them out in the ground. Only one seed failed to grow, the rest are 4-8 inches high!!

Heat is bad in my new and amateur opinion!!!

The only heat you need for your peas is when you cook them for dinner
