Ikea jars
« on: October 16, 2013, 22:25 »
I am new to this... Having my first vegetable patch in my garden..

I'm keen to make courgette chutney...

I have jars from ikea - kilns type.. With rubber ring..
What I wonder...
Put jars without the rubber in oven for 5 mins...
Take out...  fill in with chutney

Do I put rubber back on before close lids or?????

I always sterilise my seals in boiling water, and put jars in oven for 15 -20 mins, put them in when oven is cold and then heat so they don't break going straight into a hot oven. Put seals back on jars before closing (close whilst contents are still hot to create seal)

I put mine in the dishwasher and fill them when still warm from the wash.
