You are going to have to wait for someone who grows it, all I remember, that it is recommended for outdoor performance. And primarily a wine making type.

I waited before I posted thinking you would get loads of replies etc.

That was not to be so instead you have only me and Gobs.

Never mind here goes anyway. 8)

The Boskoop Glory Grape is one of the best performing outdoor varieties requiring a south facing wall if possible.

To prune it is advisable to use the Guyot method but the more usual Gordon method will do.

Thanks for that.  I have 2 options :-

1)  In the front garden over the south facing window sill.  Disadvantages a) lack of space but I might be able to squeeze it in b) Would it look silly ?
I think there could be space on the right hand side by the entrance of the house.
2) In the greenhouse in a bit of shade.

What do you think would be best ?  How easy is this ?  When could I get fruit ?  For the whole window (over the top) do I need one or 2 vines ?

Thank you in advance.

Or what about Lakemont for the greenhouse ?

It takes about 3 years to get a good crop from a grapevine and you can reckon on about 13 to 15 pounds of grapes per plant under the best seasonal conditions and expect it to last for around 35 years.

During this time it will require constant attention if it is not going to swell out with foliage, and a lot of training.

It takes around 15 pounds give or take to make one Gallon of wine.

Can you have a plant such as this in the front garden spot you have picked out.

In time it may take over your greenhouse altogether. Can you live with that.

Its very hard for me to say which area is best for you because I do not know how much space is available and for how long etc.

I do not know  Lakemont I am afraid so cannot help, but where you live is a deciding factor as to were you plant your grape.

If you live "below" a line from the Wash to Gloucester it is generally thought that you can now grow grapes out of doors just as the Romans did when they first conquered Britain.

I hope that this helps at least a little.

I have just found Lakemont grape, and it is a green house type seedless with a Muscat flavour.

This would be the better choice then for you because it will be ok in the greenhouse provided you keep it well trimmed

It looks as though one would be ok. :wink:But this grape prefers full sun :?

So you must decide.
