We finally managed to get our first bed all lovely and weeded and not too bumpy this weekend, other half has edged it, and yesterday I planted,

2 Varieties of onion
3 varieties of lettuce
1 of garlic ( i know its too late but thought Id risk it as I already had them!) ::)
Some chillies in a tray though to start off with.

Last weekend I put my raspberry canes into pots as the bed for my fruit isn't done yet.

Just a quick question/worry, my potatoes that I have been waiting to chit for ooo 2 weeks now, dont seem to be doing much, they have got small tubers and look a bit furry?? is this right? how long should they take and when should I plant them by? the packaging didnt have any instructions/guidance on and all the books say different things!

Ta  :D
I'm a vegetable virgin! All advice offered very welcome!!

I find that as soon as you see any tiny root-like bits (chits) then it's time to plant. The potato will get the hint quickly that it's time to grow and will do so with no more worries from its owner  ;) If you mean you see fuzzy stuff, as in mold, squeeze the potato to see if it's mushy soft; if it is, bin it.
