Last Christmas I bought 3 pots of white orchids - they were totally ignored all summer,  shoved them out in the garden under a large potted  plant and they got a drop of water poured over them when I remembered - about 3 times all summer. No feed, no nothing. I took pity on them a couple of weeks back and fetched them inside out of the frost - they are now in bud again !! Hooray - treat 'em mean seems to be the answer !
