Seriously, keep us posted as to how it works out!  I've kept this advice from a chap called Jim for ages in an E Mail folder. Haven't tried it out yet.  I use those big metre square rubble bags for compost, and thought I'd try one as a hot bed. They're woven and porous.

Hi Jeanieblue,
Its nice to be able advise someone at last
All it was, Monty showed us adding layers of horse poo, grass cuttings etc.......... forking em over to a height of 2 feet .or so.....and covering with about 1 foot of soil/compost.
I covered the lot with black Teram (Shaun had told me about ........ it is woven plastic that allows rain through) ---
And that's yer hot bed.
Still glowing, still growing, still going strong!

I had a rough idea of what I wanted it to look like, without any idea on how to get there .
hammer, drill, saw, few nails and screw and the look on the face of my gf and neigbours...
I want another couch to play with to get the design even better.

Thats impressive, I'm not creative enough me to turn old things into new things tho I can design them from scratch.  well except for pallets, I can use those to make compost bins and fences.
