hi once again! i had an egg today that had a fingerprint sized smear of blood on it - i assume that this is because it was whoever laid it's first ever egg? is that correct? - i know you can sometimes get redmite smears on them but it isnt that.  i hope it is a first egg as its about time they all started thinking about laying thanks, lucylou

a small amount of blood now and agian is nothing to worry about. Only if you see blood around the vent area or around the hen house should you worry. Small blood vessels are bound to rupture occasionally as it is a bit of a straign sometimes, quite normal.

Thank you. They are sisters and are now 5. Mini ones. The one on the left had her own pups a few years ago. I wanted to keep them all!
