Talk about beauty contest!  What sort are they?

Foggy the boy, is a Serama.  The 3 clustered round with him are partridge wyandottes.  The black and white one is a silver laced wyandotte - 8 years old this spring.  The one making off stage right is a vorwark - 10 this spring  :)

Love the silver laced wyandotte - she's beautiful.

I can't believe the ages!
Do they still lay at that age??

The old girls haven't laid for years, but were good layers until about 3 years old, then it tailed off to nothing by about 5 years old.

Bantams are very seasonal layers, so they take a break over the winter and also over summer while they moult.  It means they lay for much longer than hybrid layers and their life expectancy is much longer as well  :)  I reckon after laying me so many eggs, they deserve a retirement, so they are welcome to their pellets and their place in the coop  :D

Look at my poor potato plants!
