Office Greenhouse Experiment - Update (photos!)

Trying to put all this good warm, light space to good use with mixed results so far - any advice on the sadder looking plants very much appreciated!!!

Sweet PEas and Marigold - are they looking a bit leggy? Never grown them before??

Salad leaves looking a bit sorry for themselves

some toms and peppers getting going with a tray of mint

broad beans in the heated propagator - should I take them out of the heater tray now???

sweet basil, thai basil, coriander and parsley

starflower and sage

different kinds of toms, peppers and fennel
Good beer, good BBQ and good friends.

Theres a load of seedlings there!! Your sorry looking salad leaves are looking sorry as they arent getting enough light, therefor they are getting "leggy" as they are reaching towards the light! If they die or cant pick up, just try again when there is more light about! But remember, its not just the amount, but its intensity which you cant control without proper artificial lighting!!

Best of luck with the stronger looking ones though!

Fantastic!!!!! If you can try and put some aluminium foil at the back of the plants to reflect the sunlight? This would greatly improve them :)

Tall plants come a bout for a variety of reasons, lack of light can be one, but so can be too much heat and overcrowding of seedlings. Also some look healthy, I'd say these are the ones that like it warm and are not overcrowded or not yet. I'd never put broad beans in a heated prop, also the sweet peas and the fennel will a bit too warm, so the salads which are on heaps, thin these out.

Generally re-pot stuff deeper and move those that don't need much heat somewhere a bit cooler. Refer to seed packets.

you could give the sweet peas a hair cut with a sharp pair of clean scissors, this will make them get bushier  :D   Don't go mad though  :D

I always pinch the tips out of sweet peas when they have about two sets of leaves open, it seems to help thicken them up a bit.
