What is this pink insect?

What is this pink insect?

Any ideas? It's quite large about the length of my finger. Is crawling around my lawn not very gracefully. Have never seen this before!

Looks like a grasshopper to me - if you gurgle images of 'pink grasshopper' you may confirm that's what yours is (and if so, it's pretty rare.)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Beautiful insect isn't it? Their larvae feed on fuchsia, amongst other things, so if later in the year you see caterpillars on your plants, that have little horn-tails on their rear end, then that is what they might well be
