merry tiller honda replacement
« on: February 13, 2011, 22:07 »
Hi folks need some advice have acquired a gx240 8hp honda off a generator it has a v type tapered shaft the problem is fixing the correct sized pulley to the tapered shaft. I am aware  the shaft will need to be cut but it is not keyed so the shaft will need to be drilled and tapped  any ideas ,many thanks Chris.

Would it be simpler to have the pulley bored to match the taper on the shaft? If you worked out where abouts the pulley needed to sit on the shaft to give correct drive belt alignment the boring of the pulley could take this into account so when fitted it would be pre aligned then the pinch bolt hole in the pulley could be drilled through (taking care not to damage the threads) leaving a dimple in the shaft for the pinch bolt to locate into.
