What defines an "Influencer"?
« on: May 22, 2024, 14:44 »

These so-called "Influencers" keep popping up in print and social media. They don't influence me as I've never heard of them. The latest was a woman called Zanna Lee who was in a photo on yesterdays Times front page along with a Chelsea Pensioner in an article relating to the Chelsea Flower Show. Out of curiosity, I googled the lass's name and I'm no wiser other than she has a business in beauty products.

It begs the questions such as what defines an Influencer, who decides if they fit the title, how do you become one and do they make any money out of it?

They have a big presence on social media and lots of people follow them i.e. sign up to be notified if they post anything.  They can make a lot of money but the measure of success is having those followers or subscribers to whatever you are twiddling on about.

Like they do for you, they blow over my head with a sonic boom, so their influence on me is immeasurably tiny

They certainly don't influence me, but then I'm a 'Boomer' - you know, 1 of the age group they continually moan about.....

Always thought influenza was a very nasty virus - spelling might have changed but still surely best avoided if at all possible.
